High 5 for Friday!

Linking up here to share 5 great things from this week.

(Excited to do a link up. Might get a reader or 2 out of it? Let's hope my new follow-button thing works out)

1. Sore Muscles! After realizing that I had worked out about 3 times, in the last 3 months, since we got engaged, I knew it was time to shape it back it up. Spring being in the air (well it should be) and ya know, fitting into a wedding gown soon have given me some much needed motivation.

Great dvd here to tone up. Also planning on getting back into intervals- the only that really works for me. I'm planning to do a post just on exercise, alone.

In case you were wondering what I look like while I work out:

2. Easter/Holiday weekend coming up. This will be the first time that mine and Anthony's parents have gotten together since we got engaged! I am planning a few fun recipes, and even more fun outfits, so look for a weekend recap sometime next week.

3. The obligatory "new blogger' high five! Holy support, and fabulous friends and family out there! It would be great for this little project to gain some (skinny, yet toned) legs in the blogger world. I certainly am loving it, so I think everything else will fall into place, based on that alone.

4. Support for gay rights, and most importantly, gay marriage. This is a topic very near and dear to my heart. By now I'm sure you all have seen the red equality pictures on facebook. It's just a shame that it even has to be a topic at all, but bring on the love and support!!

5. Pastel toes!! I know, go from serious topic, to toe nail color. I took a nice break at work to make this happen. Priorities, people.

A star (hairstyle) is born

When I was about 10, and at my happy place- the salon, I remember divulging a secret to my mother and my hairstylist at the time, Todd. The secret was that  "I had always wanted the hair of that singer with the nose, and the great voice, that my mom just loved; and would hope to keep that as my signature hairstyle well into maturity."  Pretty juicy, huh? Any guesses on who said singer was/and still is? Duh, it's Babs. Barbra Streisand to those of you that don't know her personally. It's likely that she was promoting The Prince of Tides at the time.

I am a firm believer that what you usually love when you are little (food, movies, colors, hairstyles) will for the most part stay with you through adulthood. For example, I still love the same baby names that I did when I was younger; jewel tones are still my favorite; and my dream was ALWAYS to work in a salon. I could keep going. Think for yourself, you might be surprised at how little has changed (in the best way possible). Well, you guessed it...this is still my favorite haircut/color and I have a varied version of it all of the time.  Now if I could just these bangs to grow out.

If you have been on pinterest, you have more than likely seen the "lob" (long bob) photos of Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow. They definitely bring a more modern feel to this classic cut, which is basically a grown out inverted bob, as I sort of mentioned. We have to give credit where credit is due, though. Mrs. Brolan (or is he Mr. Streisand) has been rocking this look for 20+ years, with her perfect highlights, and not to mention perfect nails. This look is so timeless. Believe it or not, I don't like a lot of fuss, and I can't stand to style my own hair. There's that pesky laziness, again. I do, however, like to look put together. Easily done here.

My hair is a little too long and layered, to be totally rocking this look. Hello, wedding hair. Enjoy yourself now, because in September, you are history.
Maybe for my next beauty post, you'll get a video, or at least a picture of yours truly. Better do something with these roots before I let that happen. (I'm not a natural blonde! Shocker!)

Until next time,

Let's just get this first post out of the way..

Here we go...

I have been thinking about doing this for a very long time. It just took a lazy Tuesday night, with my fiance hogging the "good tv" to play Call of Duty to actually do it.

So, what can you expect from me? Awesome question. Being that I am a pretty common girl in her  late 20's early 30's, I guess it is safe to say that I will be sharing things mostly girly, homey, and foodie...your typical "lifestyle" blog. I work as a hairstylist, and while I will definitely be sharing in that department, don't expect anything quite at this level yet (I mean, posting videos? yikes!)

What can I expect? Pshhh..your guess is as good as mine. Will I get to do giveaways? Will anyone care? Will I be contacted to write my own book, and subsequently host my own talk show? Will Andy Cohen and I become besties? Will I know how to post pictures on here? Oh, the questions are endless. Might as well just kick back with a glass of champs (that's Real Housewives talk for champagne) and enjoy the ride that no one will care about.

Why the name? Amazing how I just know the questions you're hoping I will answer, isn't it? Honestly, I just kept coming back to it. I love the idea of being a little bit "Stepford" (hey, we're supposed to be honest here), and thank goodness my fiance thinks the idea of anyone being too "Stepford" is sad, and morally wrong, I am just too darn lazy to get that point even if I wanted to. While I like to bake, and make our little apartment feel like a home, I like a good shortcut more. The perfect day for me is work enough to feel productive, work out enough to break a sweat (now if I could just do that a tad more), get in some time with friends or family, cook or clean something- just anything, even if its just sweep the floors, and have a little tv time. That last part is where the laziness comes in. Lately, I have been enjoying that part a bit too much. I blame the extended winter. Here's hoping sharing some of my life with all of you, will make me branch out a little more in my everyday life.

I hate to bore you with the "whys" so I will leave it at that, and jump right in the next time. You can expect a Barbra Streisand inspired post, Pinterest DIY beauty treatments, favorite things, some wedding stuff (and no, I am not a "wife" yet as the blog suggests, but it was just easier this way. Trust me), and so on, and so on..

Until next time,
